Methods: Letters explaining the plan were sent to all the hospital consultants, and a leaflet comprising patient information and a 28 day seizure diary was prepared and distributed with all Levetiracetam prescriptions dispensed form the hospital pharmacy. Patients collecting Levetiracetam supplies were subsequently contacted by telephone and asked about the generic substitution, and whether there were any adverse effects or changes in seizure pattern, using a brief structured questionnaire. Simple descriptive statistics were used. Funding: There was no specific funding for this project.
