ATLANTA―Avani Modi, PhD, will present the Rebecca Goldberg Kaufman AES Clinical Lecture in Ethical Neuropsychiatry during the Best Practices in Clinical Epilepsy Symposium at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the American Epilepsy Society (AES). Dr. Modi will speak on “The Integration of the Pediatric Psychologist into Epilepsy Team-based Care”.
Dr. Modi is a professor and division director of behavioral medicine and clinical psychology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati-College of Medicine. Dr. Modi has continuously been funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2008, with a focus on adherence science and self-management for youth with chronic conditions, with a focus on epilepsy. She also developed an integrated psychosocial service within the CCHMC Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.
Dr. Modi has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has received numerous national and local honors and awards. Dr. Modi has served on several boards, workgroups, and committees, including the International League Against Epilepsy Mental Health Care Pathways Workgroup, the AES Adherence Barriers Workgroup, and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Common Data Elements Workgroup. Dr. Modi also serves as the editor for the Journal of Pediatric Psychology.
