SAGE Publishing to Publish Epilepsy Currents

SAGE Publishing will publish Epilepsy Currents beginning in 2019.

The official journal of the American Epilepsy Society (AES), Epilepsy Currents is a freely available online journal that publishes commentaries on recent significant research published in major epilepsy and seizure disorder journals. It is available in a print edition as well.

Reaching an audience that includes clinicians and researchers, issues also contain topical scholarly reviews written by a distinguished board of contributing editors. The journal was founded in 2001, and today has an impact factor of 9.333.

Jack M. Parent, MD, chief editor of Epilepsy Currents, and professor of neurology and director of the Neurodevelopment and Regeneration Laboratory at the University of Michigan Medical School, says, “We are excited to partner with SAGE. Our mission with Epilepsy Currents is to make research on epilepsy and seizure disorders as accessible as possible to anyone working in the field. We see SAGE as a great partner to advance this mission and increase exposure of the journal in the US and globally.” Other members of the senior editorial team are Michael Wong, MD, PhD, senior editor of basic science research; David Spencer, MD, senior editor of clinical research; and Lara Jehi, MD, associate editor of clinical research.

SAGE publishes more than 400 science, technical, and medical journals, as well as a growing collection of open access titles. The company aims to be the world’s pre-eminent social science and fastest growing STM publisher.

Epilepsy Currents will be published under a Creative Commons CC BY NC ND license. AES members receive the print subscription as a benefit of membership and all content will continue to be freely available at epilepsycurrents.org and PubMed Central. Epilepsy Currents, published by the American Epilepsy Society, is a comment and review journal for clinicians and researchers. Each issue contains commentaries that interpret and critique recently published original research articles and short topical scholarly reviews written by experts. Topics in basic science and clinical research related to epilepsy are identified for coverage in the journal and commentaries are written by a board of distinguished contributing editors.
