The Path to Equitable Care in Epilepsy
Thursday, September 15
12:00 PM ET

Moderator: David Ficker, MD, FAES
Speaker: Elaine T. Kiriakopoulos, MD, MSc

While the most well-known, seizures are not the only challenge people with epilepsy (PWE) face--PWE are often confronted with complex medication regimens, lifestyle adjustments, comorbid disease(s), disabilities, under- or unemployment, limited access to transportation, stigma, and more. Even when seizures are controlled, challenges often persist throughout the course of the disease leading to increased morbidity, mortality, and a decreased quality of life.

PWE present unique and complex medical and psychosocial issues for providers to manage in the clinic setting, and for patients to self-manage at home.

This webinar provides an overview of epilepsy, the challenges of living with and managing it, and an introduction to telehealth-accessible, evidence-based epilepsy self-management programs.
